As I sit here, I still cannot believe that Charlie Kirk is dead. I am gutted, devasted, and angry, but full of resolve. He did not deserve what happened to him, but it was what the extreme left wanted – the ability to silence an immovable force.
From its birth, America has been a nation built on liberty, not mob rule. The Founding Fathers built into the First Amendment the right to speak freely, debate, and to petition the government—all without fear of violence or censorship. They knew that once words give way to fists, and persuasion gives way to force, liberty itself is in danger.
Unfortunately, the radical left has grown louder and more aggressive, violence and censorship have replaced honest debate. Conservatives must learn from Charlie Kirk’s example and stand firm in defense of free speech, law, and order—or risk losing the very freedoms our ancestors fought to secure.
For years, conservatives have been targeted by the left’s campaign to silence opposition. Charlie spent a significant amount of time on college campuses where speakers were shouted down, on the airwaves sharing his beliefs, and on social media platforms where conservative voices were shadow-banned—the pattern has been obvious. Free speech is no longer a sacred value for the left. It is a threat to their agenda.
This is not what the Founding Fathers envisioned. They trusted the people to decide truth in the marketplace of ideas, not bureaucrats, mobs, or tech executives. Silencing speech is not progress, it is tyranny.
Equally dangerous is the reckless use of labels like “Nazi” or “fascist” against those who dare to disagree. Words matter. To smear ordinary Americans like Charlie with such extreme accusations is not only dishonest, it is now obviously dangerous.
History shows us what happens when people are dehumanized by rhetoric. Once a citizen is branded one of those grotesque terms, violence against them becomes easier to justify. What begins as insults too often ends in broken windows, ruined lives, or worse – finding yourself on the wrong side of a bullet. Those who casually throw around these words may believe they are winning arguments, but in reality, they are fueling division and opening the door to violence.
Charlie knew that patriotism calls us to something higher. A true patriot does not silence opponents—he debates them, and that is exactly what he did week-after-week and month-after-month. A patriot does not burn cities to the ground—he builds communities. A patriot does not use fear to control others—he relies on biblical truth, reason, and faith in the wisdom of the people.
The Founding Fathers themselves disagreed fiercely with one another. However, they fought their battles with words, ideas, and ballots, not bricks or fists.
The radical left often tries to justify riots as “protests” and vandalism as “speech.” Let’s be clear: destroying businesses, attacking political opponents, and silencing voices through extreme violence is not justice. It is mob rule, which is incompatible with liberty.
Our republic was designed to channel disagreement through peaceful, lawful means—debates, elections, and institutions. Once we abandon those, we risk losing the republic altogether.
In times like these, conservative voices must not shrink back. We must defend free speech not only for ourselves, but for all Americans. They may think they have silenced one voice on a Utah college campus, but they have no idea what they have set ablaze.
One of the things Charlie was so incredible at was asking meaningful questions, listening to understand and doing it with extreme patience while not personally insulting the other person. We must resist the temptation to return insult for insult or violence for violence. The radical left thrives on fear and division; patriots thrive on courage, reason, and unity. By rejecting reckless words, we preserve the dignity of our movement and demonstrate that strength lies in truth, not intimidation.
What is the solution? Well…it is not complicated. Instead, it is a return to first principles. The Founding Fathers entrusted us with tools to settle disagreements without bloodshed: debate, persuasion, and elections. These are the instruments of free people. To abandon them is to abandon the very idea of America.
It is time to restore the values that made this country great: liberty, respect, and a commitment to truth. We must recommit ourselves to being a nation where every citizen—left, right, or center—can speak freely without fear.
Violence and censorship are the enemies of freedom. Reckless words, smears, and mob intimidation weaken our republic. The radical left may believe silencing voices like Charlie’s secures their power, but in truth it undermines the foundation of our nation.
As patriots, we must take a stand. We must defend free speech, reject political violence, and hold fast to the vision of the Founders: a nation governed not by fear, but by reason, truth, and liberty. There is a reason the First Amendment was FIRST. Spirited debate and dialogue were high on their priority list. Words matter—let us use them to build up America, not tear it apart.
Thank you Charlie, for showing so purely us what it means to be an American. May we all remember what you stood for and work tirelessly to defend and return our great country to what it was meant to be.
