Change is here.

Change is here.

We heard it throughout the last two years that a second Trump presidency was a threat to democracy. The only real threat that was out there was Kamala Harris being the next president. The more I research and listen, the more I believe that we will see sweeping changes across our country.

What kind of changes? There is no doubt that the proposed Trump cabinet and staff nominees are reformist, disruptive, and highly motivated to restore power to the people. Many, including myself, believe that the bloated administrative state called the US Government and the people in position of power in pulling all the levers are the greatest threats to democracy. Simply put, We The People have rejected this authoritarian trend and re-elected the outsider.

The cabinet that has been assembled is arguably the most diverse since President Lincoln. There are republicans, democrats, entrepreneurs, men and women. Frankly, it is exciting!

Since election day, we have seen countless improvements – gas prices and interest rates are down, questionable world leaders are being forced to embrace the reality that they can no longer push the United States around, and our federal agencies are excited as we return to a more comprehensive border policy.

Don’t forget, world leaders are responding to the new sheriff coming to town. Mexico and Canada both moved to control their borders more actively. Ukraine and Russia are wanting to seriously consider an end to the conflict. Hamas wants peace, and Iran is pulling back their threats to wage war against Israel.

When good is in charge, most of the time, it creates more good. There is a resurrected hope for the future for America. Every one of us wants to go back to a time of smaller government and more liberty than ever before.

President-Elect Trump wants to shrink our government, which brings us back to our Founders’ intentions. One of the ways he wants to do that is to close the Department of Education (DOE) and give the power back to the states. He also wants to roll the funding aspect of the DOE into the U.S. Treasury and the monitoring of civil rights infractions into the Department of Justice.

The DOGE headed by Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk are getting a lot of support to look at every government agency for the purposes of slashing waste, bloated staffing, and inefficiency. Most of these bureaucracies are run by unelected political hacks loyal to the party of power.

This may sound crazy, but if you do your research, you will find that this is not a new idea. President Carter started the Department of Education and President Reagan tried to eliminate it in his administration but could not garner enough support.

Since the creation of the DOE, the US has declined in every category compared to international student’s proficiency in math, science, reading and critical thinking. Our education system is broken considering the millions we throw at education at the local, state, and federal level every year.

Personally, I am not sure if it will happen, but the intent is clear. President-Elect Trump wants to shrink government, eliminate and/or reduce the woke voice in America, and put as much power back into the hands of smaller governments and the citizens of our country.

What does this mean for our community of patriots? I think it’s quite simple. We cannot and will not sit by and merely hope things change. That posture has gotten us in big trouble in the past. Instead, we need to partner with the change and find ways to go over and above like:

  • Write letters to our congressmen and women encouraging them and they forge ahead.
  • Get involved in our local governments and attend meetings – be vocal if you need to be!
  • Continue to educate our families and friends regarding what is truly Constitutional and what is not. Don’t think for a second that everything President-Elect Trump does will always be by the book. We need to hold all parties accountable.
  • Speak up and be people of action – if there are things happening nationally or even locally that you can impact for the better, do it! Don’t wait for someone else to step up.
  • Pray for our leaders – they all need Godly counsel and a humility to follow what God has commanded.

These leaders are not even sworn in yet, but we can provide support now. Our work is just getting started, and I am hopeful for a more focused America than ever before.
